Scarce Civil War USN Officers Cutlass With USN In Guard Mfg. Ames Dated 1862 complete with its original USN Cutlass Officers scabbard ...These scabbards were like the standard cutlass model except for the gold gilted Star button at the end of the scabbards tip. When this sword was mfg. by the Ames co. the entire brass guard was gold finished over brass. If you look at my pictures you will see this gold finish is remaining in many areas of the swords guard and pommel with most of its factory gold finish worn away from its use around the oceans salt air ..Blade is really nice and clearly marked on one side of the blade with the Ames mfg. logo and on the other side USN 1862 and also complete with its original blades leather washer . Fits scabbard perfectly with no shrinkage .. Another nice thing about this sword is its complete with its original leather wrap and all its original twisted brass wire ... Originals are rare rare to find as this is the only one we have handled before ...Its outstanding and complete and 100% original and text book correct ... |
