Here is a wonderful example of a untouched Confederate CS Staff & Field Officers Sword just missing its brass scabbard tip. The Boyle Gamble Co. fittings on these swords were pinned on with a small pin when mfg. Its common for these pins to have fallen out during the war years and often you find missing scabbard tips or loose fittings becasue of this. You can replace with a replacement scabbard tip if you are lucky enough to locate one or some have a replacement made or leave as found as I am offering it .These blades where originally lightly etched and often so thin of a etching that its hard to see .This blades shows a small traces visible. Outstanding grip leather and a wonderful untouched patina . Scabbard leather is also classic Boyle & Gamble with a single stitching along the top on one side only. I hove the brass guard on these swords with "CS" with a star above. These Boyle & Gamble CS Staff Officers swords range in price depending on blade etch and overall condition etc. between $10,000 to $18,000.
